Are you traveling for a couple of days? If so then you should have a traveling kit with you. No I’m not talking about the toiletries here. I’m pretty sure you can find these at the hotel. What I mean is the kit for detecting bed bugs silly. Bed bugs? Now it may seem this is nothing serious but how serious does red bumps on the skin that itch like crazy sound? So get your bag ready.
Things you need:
A flashlight (Hey don’t forget the batteries)
Magnifying lens
A pair of tweezers
Laundry bags
Once you’re inside the hotel, don’t unpack your luggage just yet. Use the first three things on your list and check the bed for any signs of bed bugs. If you don’t know check out several photos online to find out what do bed bugs look like. Now these bugs could be too small to be seen clearly by the naked eye so use a magnifying lens and try to trap a bug with the tweezers so you can thoroughly inspect it. (But really. If you find any kind of bug, even if it’s not a bed bug, well, how yucky is that anyway?)
If you found nothing then you’re good but you can’t be too sure. So place your used clothes inside individual laundry bags and tie them tightly to be sure.
As a traveler you’re less concerned with what kills bed bugs than how to identify them to begin with. Now maybe you know a bit more about how to go about doing so.
