Features of a Doghouse

Filed under: Pets — Tags: — admin @ 6:51 am

There are a number of features and factors that need to be considered when making Dog Kennel Plans. An ideal doghouse needs to insulated. This can be done using sheets of Styrofoam, which are overlaid with wood paneling or another material.

Outdoor bedding for the dog can be made of cedar shavings or straw. If you use blankets, they get wet and freeze. The bedding should also be changed, at least once in every two weeks.

The doorway to the kennel should be covered with a carpet, waterproof burlap or a heavy plastic sheet in order to keep the wind out. A raised platform inside in the kennel will keep the dog above cold ground.

Another import feature is a ramp. Installing this can make it easier for a dog to climb inside the house. This will be especially important if there are older dogs, as they may suffer from arthritis.

Air vents, which can be closed in cold weather, will allow fresh air to circulate inside the kennel.

Keep the Kids Happy

Filed under: Pets — Tags: — admin @ 11:23 pm

As a mother I want to give my children everything that they want, but because I am a single mother, that is not always possible. My youngest daughter loves horses, she has always loved them and I bought her all types of little horse toys. She loved her toys, but as she got older she still had a love for horses and she would read books and watch movies about horses all the time. We where driving to a different state and my daughter saw a sign that said, horses for sale. She looked at me and said, do you think we could look at the horses? I said yes, because I knew that she loved horses. She found one that was her favorite, but she knew we could never buy a horse. I week later I took her back to that same farm and the farmer said that we could come every week if we wanted to look at the horses and help them at the farm. My daughter was so happy. I knew that I would not be able to get my daughter a horse, but as a mom I had to do what I could to keep my daughter happy.

I can’t guarantee with any kind of certainty that our children would do the same for each other, but I can guarantee they’d do it for the dog. Pets have this way of worming into your heart, and your lives, and staying there forever.
